Materials : Our master artisans at Bobato Ship Models meticulously recreate historical wooden vessels from the 15th to the 18th century using official plans and archives from the Musée de la Marine. Whether crafting standard scale models or large-scale masterpieces over one meter, every build requires between 1,500 and over 6,000 hours of precision handiwork. From plank-on-frame hull assembly to complex rigging, each stage reflects museum-grade craftsmanship, patience, and dedication. Every creation relies on a selection of premium raw materials. We combine noble hardwoods—such as walnut, teak, mahogany, and oak—for the hull structure and deck planking, fine textiles treated with beeswax and custom aging techniques for authentic period sails and rigging, and custom-machined brass and Zamak (white metal) fittings for sharp, accurate miniature details.
