Maritime History
Originally launched as a horse-carrier named Coquille, this vessel was renamed Astrolabe in 1826 to honor La Pérouse’s lost ship. Under the command of Jules Dumont d'Urville, she led legendary scientific expeditions across the Pacific and discovered Adélie Land in Antarctica.
