VELOX - NORMAND - 1875
Originally, the Velox was called Zemaiteji. It was built from the plans by Jacques-Augustin Normand and launched in 1875.
Without having participated in any regatta, the Vélox entered the legend by its history and its remarkable performance water sports. Throughout more than 40 meters, it proved one of the largest schooner yacht in the world, reaching peak speeds over 14 knots.
His successive owners have also contributed to his fame. But at the death of the formers, the Vélox has found other buyers than a demolition contactor.
A model of Vélox is exposed to the Marine Museum in Paris.
