VIKING
It is a boat which has no decked and no ballast. But it is
quite navigate for the Vikings who handle dare to adventure
far offshore on this simple boat equipped with a sail. Drakkar
Viking had an essential role in the Viking expansion. Vessels
suitable for the navigation on the high seas, gracefully with
their own pulling water, go up the rivers and lands. Gracefully
of their speed and their suddenness, the Vikings rerouting
attacked populations. And you can imagine the Parisians, terror
in November 885, when appeared at the gates of the city 700
vessels island with on board 30,000 men. The Norwegians call
a boat Viking simply Viking skips. Other words were in use
at old Scandinavian, such knörr (trade vessel) or langskip
(boat lying for warfare shipments). And when the Vikings settled
in Normandy, they enriching the French vocabulary of many
words (esquifs, anchor, port, keel, make, etc.) but are nowhere
found drakkar trace!
