AMERIGO
VESPUCCI - ITALIEN - 1931
AMERIGO VESPUCCI", a ship of the Italian navy was launched
in 1931 in the Naval shipyard of Castellamare Di Stabia in
Italy, this piece of art, realized by the Lieutenant Colonel
Francesco Rotundi, keeps in balance the technical practice
of the most modern war ships and the fascination of the old
sailing ships. "AMERIGO VESPUCCI" has sailed the
seas of the world from the Mediterranean to the Atlantic and
to the north seas.
Modern technology is campo flagged by the elegant mahogany
consoles of the sophisticated instruments framed in a classical
style. Powerful and reliable engines are dominated by strong
masts, built to withstand a wind pressure of 3000 square meters
of sails. A ship which still exists a name which represents
to the admiring spectators a chapter of a long story dedicated
to the courage to the sprit of adventure and to the sacrifice
of those young men who have chosen the sea life.
